Rock climbing seems to be on the road to being one of the most popular pastimes. These days there are both in and outdoor rock climbing. The latter seems to be the most extreme. The act of rock climbing is to scale a larger rock formation, wearing a lot of protection such as safety helmet, safety shoes and a safety harness. As crazy and sometimes dangerous as that sounds many people do it, some do it for the thrill and others think it is great exercise, but most of those people do the indoor climbing.
It does build your upper body because you have to pull yourself up with your arms and it is great for leg strength because you need strong legs to climb a large rock that does not have steps but little ledges you have to find first in order to climb them.
As important enough as it is to know how to climb the rock the important part is having the correct equipment. Always make sure your equipment is secure and in good condition. Make sure you always go with a buddy or someone who has done it before.
People first started rock climbing in 1903 and exploded in popularity in 1930. It has come back stronger in the past 10 years than it ever has. There are more thrill seekers today then back then. As much as a daredevil you are never push the limit to where there is a greater chance of getting hurt.
Remember safety first.
